Hey, nerds! It’s Rebecca from Living Better Together joining you for the day with some geeky goodness! Can you believe it’s been three years since The Avengers came out? Luckily we’ve had some awesome solo films to tie us over and something tells me Age of Ultron will be well worth the wait!

My husband and I are HUGE geeks, that’s probably why Maggie and I get along so well. Us geeky girls got to stick together! Anyways, I became obsessed with superheroes after my uncle took me to the midnight showing of X-Men back in 2000. Sure, Hugh Jackman had a lot to do with that, but I fell in love with the stories, the powers, and the characters. And I may or may not have dreamed about waking up one day to discover I had some really cool super power like Jean Grey.

I love my X-Men, and I’m super excited for Magneto’s twin Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to make their grand appearance in Age of Ultron. Though I LOVED Evan Peter’s Quicksilver in Days of Future Past, I’m excited to see what Aaron Taylor-Johnson has to bring to the table, he is pretty “Kick-Ass” after all. <—I crack myself up!

Anyways, there’s one other superhero that holds a place in my heart even more than Wolverine and the X-Men, and that would be Cap. I don’t know if it’s because he’s from a period of time that has always intrigued me, or because he reminds me the most of my husband, or because he’s just so damn honorable. Whatever it is, I love him!

So in his honor, I made some cookies. However, he’d probably frown upon the fact that I totally cheated when I made them for my Avenger’s Age of Ultron party last week. But for the sake of sanity, sometimes you’ve got to cut a few corners. However, I’m still going to share both the recipes for my classic sugar cookies and whipped frosting so you can make them from scratch right at home as well as how to cheat like I did.

So you want to know how I cheated? Store bought sugar cookies as the base, but you can also use my Grandmother’s recipe below. Did you know that you can often order frosting from your local grocery store bakery? It’s especially helpful when you need really bold colors, like red, and don’t want to buy a gallon of food coloring to make sure it doesn’t turn out pink! Plus you can get that awesome Best Creme Frosting that everyone loves! Oh and did I mention it’s usually super cheap too! Just frost them as described in the instructions below and enjoy!
