A fun and free date night game idea for you all – COUPLES SCATTERGORIES!
Last year, I made a date night game called The Not So Newlywed Game. It was also a really fun at home date night for us with lots of laughs as we answered the questions over a couple glasses of wine. We really did learn some things about each other and went down lots of memory lanes. Plus, it has been really popular on the blog. Since it was such a hit, I decided to create a new game for this Valentine’s Day called Couple’s Scattergories that is perfect for an at home date night.
Scattergories is a favorite game in our family, and it’s been played a lot more lately since my oldest niece has fallen in love with it, too. Bryan bought me a copy to have at our house for parties, so I guess it was on my mind.
If you have never played it before, you roll a dice to choose a letter and are given a list of statements for which you need to down words for that start with the chosen letter. For example, you are using the letter S and you need to choose something people are afraid of: snakes and sharks. You get points for words you wrote down that are accurate for the clue and that no one else has. If this would be your first time playing, you can read the rules for the official game here.
In this date night version, all the statements/questions are focused on your partner or relationship. Things like – Fave thing about partner, describe your partner’s cooking or somewhere you want to travel to together. It will give you a chance to reconnect, laugh and maybe even learn something new about each other.
All you have to do is download this PDF of Couples Scattergories. There you will find 5 lists for play, 1 blank list for you to make your own, an answer sheet, and ABCs you can cut out for choosing letters if you don’t own a Scattergories dice. You will need two copies of the lists for you to both have and cut them out and you will need multiple answer sheets as well.
