Breaking away from the tradition red with A Berry Merry Christmas Mantel!
When I was growing up, Christmas was magical. I guess every kid says that in their own right. The snow, the lights, the stories of Santa brining presents – it all lends itself to magic. My family does it on overload.
During the holiday season, every doorway has lighted greenery and poinsettias. The mantel is decorated with a big Christmas tree sitting right next door. There is an entire North Pole village built up in the living room with a train going round and round in styrofoam tunnels. There are snowy window clings on mirrors and tables filled with Christmas knick knacks. Then, there is the outside.
One Christmas a sign was delivered to our front yard that said “The Griswolds live here.” Lights are strung up on every edge of the roof, every bush, and every tree. There is a Santa on the roof and reindeer in the front yard. The children across the street would watch for hours as the house was decorated, waiting for that moment when everything would come a live with holiday cheer. Cars slow as they pass to see it all aglow. You get the idea…
Christmas decorations have their own type of magic. You can see it when a Christmas tree is lit up for the first time or the look on a kid’s face when they see a really decorated house. Christmas decorations bring a sense of joy and calm. These are emotions I certainly need right about now which is why I have already started decorating for Christmas. You might think it’s too early, but I say it’s never too early!
My mom recently changed the color of her family room to a gorgeous lavender color, so we thought it was time for an update away from her old red poinsettias. We weren’t really sure what we were going to find and hadn’t seen much variety out there until we went to At Home, which is my new favorite home store by the way. They have so much variety and great everyday low prices. I was really impressed with the price points.
At Home has a stunning Christmas collection called Berry Platinum that is perfect if you want to break away from the more classic holiday decor. It is especially perfect for my mom’s lavender family room. We purchased their purple poinsettias, the wreath above the mantel and some matching spruces to her wreath to tuck in the greenery. All the other details came from At Home too, including the greenery that went up in just a couple minutes because it was pre-lit.
No matter your Christmas style, At Home Christmas Decor will have something for you. Seriously, head over and check out all of their themes and collections. The white reindeer came from their Snowcapped Scene theme while the white poinsettias came from the Crystal Chateau theme – both of which have gorgeous white pieces and hints of nature. For a more traditional look, you could go with Cherished Memories or Peppermint Jazz. There is also Seas and Greetings for those living in the tropics – or those who just love blue – and Regal Renaissance for someone who loves a Mardi Gras flair all year round. Like I said – something for everyone.
Each collection has their own unique ornaments, too, which are perfect to put on one of the 101 varieties of Christmas Trees that they sell. So many fun options – especially colors – that I think it might be time to add a new Tree for Me in our house this year!
