Hi, Nerds! How are you doing?! If you’re new to the group, Welcome! If you haven’t joined yet, you can do so here. If you’ve been around for a while, welcome back! We can’t wait to discuss and read with you! We’re currently discussing February’s book, The Girl on the Train, by Paula Hawkins and reading The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick.

I was so excited for our birthday trip to Florida in the beginning of the month because it meant time for reading! I got through 2 books:  The Girl on the Train (our winner for February) and All the Light We Cannot See (a WWII era novel).

TGOTT is a mystery. The ending of The Girl on the Train felt predictable; I was not at all surprised by the resolution of the mystery. However, I did find the discussion of memory and the distortion/ownership of said memories interesting. I don’t want to say any more than that though for those that might pick it up.
All the Light We Cannot See focuses on both a blind French girl and a young German boy as they fight for their survival in unique ways. While bouncing back and forth between their stories was at times confusing, I was really taken in by the beautiful imagery and metaphors, as well as the deep sense of conflict between survival and remaining human.
