I have something important to reveal to you – I’m not a morning person. I’ve always been a night owl – staying up past my bedtime as a child to read and writing all my best school papers in the very early morning hours. My mom would always try to have conversations over breakfast before school while I was trying to bury my head in the quite of my book. Even now, it’s really best for everyone to leave me alone in the morning. I prefer time alone to think, reflect, wake up and become a nicer human being.
Running The Love Nerds from home means that my mornings never look the same, except for a cup of coffee ! That never changes!! My coffee helps inspire me and my business because I definitely can’t do mornings without it. The hardest thing about being a sole proprietor is the SOLE part – alone with me, myself and I. I have a ton of supportive friends in my personal life and in my blogging community, but I am the only one that can get these done for The Love Nerds. With such big hopes and dreams to accomplish, Coffee-Mate coffee helps get the creative juices flowing. I thought it would be fun to track a few mornings behind the scenes with my coffee and show you exactly how Coffee-mate coffee is my best friend in the morning.
Oftentimes my coffee inspires my editorial calendar (yes, that is my Erin Condren Life Planner in the background). I drink my coffee while listening to some acoustic music and brainstorming ideas for the blog. There is something comforting about the warmth of the coffee as I drink it and the smooth creamy taste that wakes up my creativity. I know it sounds mushy, but I truly feel most alert and calm when my day starts like this.
Sometimes my day needs a faster start, and my Hazelnut coffee accompanies me with more energetic music and the sounds of my Silhouette machine. These mornings are more of a struggle for this non-morning person – the mornings when I’m greeted with a firm to-do list of Etsy orders. These days my coffee becomes a necessity and fuels my creative tasks.
Other days, my Coffee-mate coffee just keeps me going in the morning through business tasks, like publishing posts and responding to emails.
Whatever the task, I depend on my coffee to fuel and inspire The Love Nerds! As the day goes on, I become more stressed and overwhelmed. It becomes easier to get lost within the tasks on the to-do list. However, in the mornings with my coffee, everything is clearer, and I can truly focus on my goals.
