Gift wrapping is so expensive! I don’t understand how cards and gift bags can add $5-10 to your gift price. So a new goal of mine is finding economic but CUTE gift wrapping ideas, because I just can’t personally sacrifice the cute factor. Tomorrow I have a round-up of ideas planned for all of you, but, in the meantime, I thought I would bring you all a super easy kraft gift bag idea that I made for my mom’s birthday.
I bought a 2 pack of Kraft Bags for a dollar – way more adorable than the $4 bag I saw at Target. For decorating the bag, I went “shopping” through supplies that I already at home to make sure I was truly being thrifty.
First, I cut out a square from thick card stock. I used my Silhouette to do this – adding the size of the bag into the program first so I could see how much space the square would take up on the bag. However, this can easily be done with a paper cutter or even scissors.
Then, I chose 3 different coordinating washi tape rolls to cover the card stock square. I just folded the washi tape over the edge since you wouldn’t see the back. After the square, aka the present, was super colorful, I used double sided tape to attach the washi tape square to the Kraft Bag.
Lastly, I punched two holes into the bag right above the washi tape square and pulled ribbon through to tie a bow on top.
The entire project took 5 minutes, and I think I still got the cute factor I wanted! Plus, my mom can say she receive a one of a kind bag. 😉
I can’t wait to show you all other DIY gift wrapping ideas tomorrow!
