Enjoy a Sweet and Tart Cranberry Orange Margarita this Holiday Season!

Tis the season to be jolly … and stressed … and busy! Even though I hate winter and the cold weather that has already settled in over the Chicago area, this is my favorite time of year. Decorations, Christmas music, holiday movies, extra time with friends and family, and all the amazing treats add up to an amazing holiday season. It’s also an incredibly busy time of year with an ever growing to do list which is where an occasional holiday cocktail recipe comes in handy like this Cranberry Orange Margarita.

Cranberry and citrus makes the perfect flavor combination during the holiday season, and these cranberry orange margaritas definitely won’t disappoint.

Cranberry Orange Margarita Recipe - Christmas Margaritas for your Holiday Party!

I’ve recently gotten on a margarita kick and whipped up a batch of Cranberry Margaritas for our October at home fiesta date night. I loved the tart cranberries mixed with limes, but I generally like my cocktails a little bit sweeter which is why I made Orange Cranberry Margaritas this time! Best possible decision! Then I went a little bit sweeter again and made White Cranberry Margaritas which – despite loving all of them – are my favorite of the three recipes!

Cranberry and Orange has always been one of my favorite flavor combinations and one that’s appeared on the blog a few times already with my Cranberry Orange Scones and my Cranberry Orange Walnut Goat Cheese Log. I know many people who tend to think of citrus flavors as more of a summer cocktail ingredient, but there is just something about the tangy citrus combination that brightens the cold, dreary winter days.

Easy cocktail recipes like this one are one of the easiest ways to make gatherings with friends and family special without a lot of prep work. Sipping a holiday drink garnished with fresh cranberries and orange slices is more festive than a bottle of beer or glass of wine.

Plus the sweetness of the orange complements the tartness of the cranberries, making it a big crowd pleaser for all your holiday parties! If you like the combination, you might also enjoy my Cranberry Tangerine Moscow Mule!

I definitely recommend purchasing a jigger and cocktail shaker for your holiday parties. It makes cocktail prep a lot easier!

KITCHEN ITEMS HELPFUL FOR MAKING YOUR HOLIDAY COCKTAILS:

Rose Gold Cocktail Shaker and Double Sided Jigger –> I always use jiggers when I make cocktails as I find them the easiest way to measure out liquor. Extra bonus points for this set because it’s really pretty.

Glassware —>  Can’t have margaritas without great glassware! You can go traditional with Margarita Glasses OR go festive with Holiday Stemless Glassware!

Glass Pitcher —> When making batch cocktail recipes for parties, you’ll want to make sure you have a large glass pitcher on hand!

12″ Beverage Stirrer for Pitcher —> Especially with a smooth, creamy drink like this one, you will want to provide a drink stirrer of some sort for your guests to mix up the cocktail punch before pouring. I find a beverage stirrer is less cumbersome and messy than putting a big spoon there instead.
