DELICIOUS RASPBERRY LEMONADE SANGRIA RECIPE!

If you follow along here on The Love Nerds, you will know that I love lemonade based cocktails for summer. It provides a citrus sweet base for the drink recipe that is light, refreshing and easy to customize!

First I shared my Basil Lemonade Cocktail, which is my go to as a one drink recipe to sip on outside for a warm summer night!

Then last summer I crafted my Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade Spritzer, which is super fun for a celebration because of the bubbles from the sparkling wine.

But now comes this Raspberry Lemonade Sangria Recipe and it might be my favorite of all!

I like raspberries. They aren’t my first pick when choosing berries to eat; that goes to strawberries. Raspberries are definitely my first pick for a drink recipe, though.

While sweet, they also have a little more tartness to them which I think helps a cocktail recipe stay balanced and not getting too sweet.

This Raspberry Lemonade Sangria is definitely a balance of sweet and tart. It has a lemonade base with both lemons and raspberries added as the fresh fruit and raspberry vodka added for extra fruit flavor!

WHAT IS IN SANGRIA?

For those of you that might have never made sangria or even tasted it before, it’s a wine based cocktail filled with delicious fruit that soaks anywhere from a couple hours to the night before.

The basic ingredients in most sangria recipes are wine, a sweetener of some sort, a liqueur, a soda or non-alcoholic mixer, and fruit. Lots of fruit!

This sangria has a white wine base in the form of Pinot Grigio, a little bit of sugar, flavored vodka for the liqueur, lemonade concentrate for the mixer and raspberries and lemon as the fruit.

HOW TO MAKE A LEMONADE SANGRIA?

Making this Raspberry Lemonade Sangria (and any sangria, really) is super simple. You will add all the ingredients into the pitcher, stir well, and chill until you are ready to serve!

The only exception to this is if you are using any ingredients with bubbles, such as sparkling wine or lemon-lime soda. When adding bubbles, you will want to add those right before serving so they don’t go flat before you can enjoy.

I used lemonade concentrate for this sangria recipe because I wanted the stronger lemon flavor. You can use lemonade as the mixer if needed but it could result in a weaker lemon flavor because it is being diluted from both the wine for the sangria and the water that was added to make the lemonade.

I also like using lemonade concentrate because it puts me in better control of the sugar in the recipe. If you are wanting to cut the sugar in the recipe, you can try making it without the sugar and see how you like it first!

WHAT IS LEMONADE CONCENTRATE?

Lemonade concentrate is the can of “lemonade” that you purchase from the freezer section of the grocery store. When using it to make lemonade, you follow the instructions to add water and sugar. It can also be used as a more flavorful “lemonade” mixer.

DON’T LIKE RASPBERRY? MAKE IT A DIFFERENT FLAVOR!

The best thing about this raspberry lemonade sangria recipe is that you can easily use the framework of the sangria recipe to create any flavored lemonade sangria you want! It’s super easy!

Your first option is to switch the raspberry vodka for any other flavored vodka. They make so many choices these days so the sky is the limit!

You can also switch out the lemonade concentrate for a flavored one if your grocery store offers that option or you could use flavored lemonade instead with the caveat that the flavor could be a little weaker as I explained above.

Lastly, just switch out the fruit to match whatever flavor you are using for your lemonade sangria.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of white wine (I used Pinot Grigio)
  • 3/4 cup raspberry vodka
  • 1 can of lemonade concentrate (thawed from freezer section)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 2 lemons (cut into slices)

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, combine white wine, vodka, lemonade concentrate and sugar; stir well to dissolve sugar.
  2. Add lemons and raspberries and set in fridge until ready to enjoy.

Notes

*Raspberries can get a little mushy if you add too early to the sangria. I recommend only added them a couple hours before enjoying.

*Want a different flavor lemonade other than raspberry? Switch the flavored vodka and fruit to match your desired flavor!

*Skip sugar for a slightly less sweet sangria recipe.
