Pumpkin Mummy Hand Pies

Author Maggie @ The Love Nerds

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup brown sugar unpacked
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ pumpkin pie spice
  • tablespoon heavy cream
  • ¼ cup pecans
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees {F}.
  2. Filling: Mix pumpkin, brown sugar, spices, heavy cream and pecans in a bowl until well combined.
  3. Unroll the pre-made dough on a flat, floured surface. Using your desired cookie cutter size, cut out your base for the hand pies. Keep the leftover dough and cut into strips to make your mummy wrapping.
  4. Prep the cookie sheet by covering with parchment paper.
  5. Place your dough base onto the parchment paper and add about a tablespoon of filling to the middle of each shape. You want to leave a little bit of space around the edges to seal the strips of dough to the base.
  6. Whisk one egg in a small bowl and brush on top to get a beautiful golden color.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Lastly, add candy eyes to the top.
