Frosty’s Party Mix is the perfect accompaniment for watching Frosty the Snowman this holiday season!
I grew up on the classic cartoon Christmas movies like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Frosty the Snowman. Frosty was definitely my favorite and the reason I decided to make this Frosty Party Mix. So much so that I’m even willing to share an embarrassing story with all of you.
My family is known for going all out for Christmas decorations. My mom would cover every door way in the house with lighted garland and poinsettias while every window was covered with snowflake window clings. The outside? Completely covered with Christmas lights. The kids across the street would sit at their front window watching the lights go up when they were little and cars come by to look every year with the traditional slow drive by known for decked out houses. My sister’s in-laws even gave Dad a sign one year that said, “No, the Griswolds don’t live here” because some people might have wondered.
But back to the embarrassing part … One of the Christmas decorations in our yard is a hard plastic light up Frosty the Snowman. I watched the cartoon so many times when I was little that part of my believed that hard plastic light up Frosty would come to life. Whenever it snowed, I would brush the snow off him, talking to him while I did. I would tell him all my secrets and Christmas wishes.
Years later, we still have that Frosty. It has been hit by a car and badly dented. It has ever been replaced with a new, non-dented one, but I would never let my dad retire that original Frosty. He was my friend, and, yes, I plan on one day taking him to my own home. Maybe Liam will believe in the magic of snow, too, and hope that Frosty will one day come to life to play with him.
Until then, we will have to make do with sitting down as a family in front of a warm fire and pretty Christmas tree to watch Frosty the Snowman with Frosty’s Snowman Party Mix.
