Hey y’all! I am so excited to be visiting y’all today from Becky’s Best Bites and participating in the Love Nerds November Apple Series! Today I will be sharing with you my Best Homemade Slow Cooker Applesauce. I think that you will really love this recipe. My Best Homemade Slow Cooker Applesauce is an easy and simple recipe combining fall flavors like fresh apples, cinnamon, nutmeg & Madagascar vanilla extract. It really couldn’t be simpler and it will fill your home with AMAZING aromas and just wait until you taste it! From toddlers to teens to adults, this recipe is a real crowd pleaser.
I thought I would introduce myself to you real quick since I don’t know many of you. I am actually trained as a health coach, but I don’t practice health coaching in the traditional fashion. I decided to take my training in health coaching and my love for food that tastes great and combine them in my blog Becky’s Best Bites! There I take recipes and make them healthier, but here is the kicker…I don’t sacrifice the most important part – the TASTE!!
I firmly believe that food that is good for you doesn’t have to taste like health food. Simple substitutions and swaps can make just about any recipe healthier and keep all of the great tastes and flavors. If you would like to learn more about my story or my blog, please visit me here.
My Best Homemade Slow Cooker Applesauce has evolved from homemade organic baby food that I have been making this year for my nephew. When my nephew was still just eating baby food, I made the applesauce using just apples. I would fill ice cube trays with the applesauce and freeze for individual servings for him. He loved it like that. My sister event reported that it was his fav!!
Once he was older and could have other ingredients introduced, we added the fresh cinnamon, nutmeg and Madagascar vanilla extract. Then it was like OMG!! The house would smell like apple pie!! The adults even enjoyed the applesauce, but my nephew was over the moon! And that put me over the moon 🙂
Here is a shot of the apples in the slow cooker just before turning it on. You can see the cinnamon stick and the fresh nutmeg shavings. You can’t really see the Madagascar vanilla extract, but believe me…you will taste it, and it is AMAZING!!! So let’s get to it!
