In my world, Halloween is all about the TREAT! It is the one time of year where I let myself indulge in the candy I love, like Skittles and Starburst. So when I stumbled across this Skittles & Starburst 30 Pack from Sam’s Club, I just knew it was time to get in the Halloween spirit. Last year, I went with a dark, literary themed – lots of black and purple. This year I am going COLORFUL, which is, of course, where the fruity candy comes in. With this variety pack, I created 2 different projects: Monster Mash Jars with Skittles and Mummy Starburst favors with a tag.

MONSTER MASH JARS

I opened up the Skittles and started to divide them into their own individual jars. To fill the large mason jars, I definitely used more Skittles than the ones in the box. However, smaller mason jars would definitely work if you own them!

After the jars were filled mostly full, I got to working on the decorations. I used vinyl to make the faces, cutting out the designs with the help of my Silhouette. You can find the pieces yourself on the shop – just search for Build a Jack-O-Lantern. There are a TON of fun options.

I added the individual pieces to the jar by hand for this project so I could space them out exactly like I wanted.

When the Monsters started to come together, I decided I wanted to add a few details to some of them. For the Devil, I added horns on the top. For Frankenstein, the plugs on the side. For the witch, her hat. I made all of these out of paper and tape.

Tip: when cutting out these 3D elements, leave a portion beyond the design that you can fold over and tape. It makes it much easier to attach the design where you want. I did this for the hat, too. It is tucked underneath where I attached the tape to hold it in place.

MUMMY STARBURST FAVORS

I love having little treats and gifts on hand to give others, especially if we have people over for a party. For Halloween, I thought it would be fun to dress up the Starburst packets. I used gauze and wrapped around the packet. Then, I placed it in a cellophane bag and tied it off with black ribbon. Of course I needed a message to add to the gift, so I typed out “Hope your Halloween bursts with friends, fun and fright!” and attached it to a Halloween themed paper.

These were really quick to put together, so that’s a bonus if you are making as a party favors or treats to send to school with the kids. A little gauze also goes a long way!

So next time you are in Sam’s Club, make sure you head on over to candy aisle to check out this variety pack! I personally always want Yellow and Pink Starburst to satisfy a sweet tooth. I was also really excited that this pack had some of the other flavors included, too. I’ve been wanting to try the Skittles Sours.

These are delicious! I am totally doing these – what a great way to surprise the teachers at our school. I can do Monster Mash themes without stepping on the foot of No Halloween Themes. I can too! Watch me pull it off – thank you for the great idea!
