Bryanand I own a lot of DVDs. We have a couple of large IKEA shelves in our living room, and our DVDs took over five entire shelves plus another small shelving unit for our TV series. I wanted to clear a couple shelves in my office full of books, and I wanted to condense the clutter of movies, so I started brainstorming.
I have tried many different systems in the past, including a large, black and honestly ugly DVD storage binder. I decided to break the DVDs into multiple binders which would allow for better organization and for them to sit nicely on a shelf.
A few people also asked me about the binders. After having the eyesore through college, I also wanted to make sure there was a cute touch to this organization, so I found these great clear binders at Office Max and added some scrapbook paper. You can find the binders here. I love the Peter Walsh [IN] PLACE line at Office Max, so I also decided to buy the little clip tags to label the binders. What is great about these tags is that they use dry erase markers, so I can change them easily as needed.
Here is the end result:

What did you do with the DVD containers?

I offered the cases to friends in case anyone had use for them and then I recycled the rest.

I organized our CDs like this a long time ago. I used regular binders though. These are much prettier. Also, with hard covers, mine ended up losing their covers eventually, so I need to re-do. I will look for these binders to see if I can still find them, and make them prettier. I just got the inserts at Best Buy recently. Maybe now I can do our DVDs. Great idea! Thanks!

I am so sorry I never responded! Some how your comment got into the spam folder. I ordered the inserts from amazon, but you can get them almost anywhere.
