REFRESHING FROZEN MOSCOW MULE SLUSHIES FOR WARM SUMMER DAYS!

Moscow mules are my favorite cocktails, hands down! Easy choice!

This summer, I decided to tackle taste testing a bunch of Moscow mule recipes for you all. It’s a hard job but somebody has to do it! 😉

I was most nervous about crafting this recipe as I wanted to make sure to honor all the classic flavors of a mule while also making it easy enough to make for a large batch.

Because trust me – you friends and family are going to love these frozen Moscow mule slushies! You will want to be able to whip these up quickly and serve to a crowd at your next BBQ or pool party.

While the Raspberry Moscow Mules are still my favorite, these have certainly become our favorite pool side drink this summer! They are just so refreshing when it’s 90 degrees out.

So my next step is, of course, to make Frozen Raspberry Moscow Mule Slushies!

The best thing about this recipe is that you can easily tweak it to add it the flavors of my other Moscow mule recipes! I’ll share more about how below!

Tall copper mug is filled with frozen mocow mule slushie and garnished with a sprig of mint and resting on a bright pink and blue napkin with extra limes in the top left corner out of focus.

HOW TO MAKE FROZEN MOSCOW MULES

These frozen Moscow mules are inspired by the classic Moscow Mule recipe which relies on 3 main ingredients: vodka, ginger beer, and lime.

However, I personally didn’t feel like fresh lime juice in this case would be easy to provide in larger batches. I wanted to find an alternative and settled on limeade concentrate!

So despite a switch up on the lime flavor, this recipe still only needs 3 ingredients. Win-win!

Important note about ingredients – I prefer using diet ginger beer in all of my Moscow mules recipes but especially with this one since the limeade concentrate brings in an extra sugar to the recipe.

Now, here are the easy steps:

  1. Mix together the limeade concentrate, vodka, and diet ginger beer into a large freezable container.
  2. Freeze for 2 hours or more. This length will depend on your freezer and the size/shape of your container.
  3. Get your container out of your freezer about 15 minutes before serving to make scooping easier. Enjoy!

HOW LONG DO I NEED TO FREEZE THESE FROZEN MOSCOW MULES?

This answer is going to vary greatly depending on your freezer and the size or shape of your freezer container.

You will need to freeze for at least 2 hours but possibly up to overnight. My freezer is older and very full, so mine definitely needs overnight.

If you are making this for the first time for an event, I highly suggest planning on freezing it overnight so you don’t have to be stressed or worried about it.

WHAT IF I WANT TO ENJOY THESE MOSCOW MULE SLUSHIES RIGHT AWAY?

While I love being able to toss into the freezer, it does mean you have to wait for them to get into slushie form.

If you want to whip these up to enjoy right away though, that’s no problem! Add your combined ingredients into your blender with a bunch of ice and blend as a “frozen” drink.

It’s super easy and provides immediate gratification!

CAN I MAKE THESE FROZEN MOSCOW MULES A DIFFERENT FLAVOR?

Yes! Absolutely! It is so easy to switch up the flavor of these frozen mules!

There are three different ways you can achieve this. You can do one, two or even all three.

  1. The easiest change is adding flavored vodka. Do a 1:1 change, substituting, for example, raspberry vodka for regular vodka.
  2. Add in 1 cup of desired juice, like pineapple juice.
  3. Add in pureed frozen fruit. This can be done by adding the pureed fruit into the mix before chilling in the freezer but is easiest with the blender. Cut back on the ice and use frozen fruit to help get the slushie consistency with the added fruit flavor!

HELPFUL ITEMS FOR MAKING FROZEN MOSCOW MULES:

My suggestions for what you want on hand when making frozen Moscow mules is different than classic mules. Partially because we are making it in a large batch form instead of individual cocktails.

First and foremost is copper mugs if you want to stick to the classic drink ware. Second is a great blender if you are going to whip these up quickly!

HAND HAMMERED 100% COPPER MUGS: This is probably my favorite set because in addition to coming with 4 hand hammered copper mugs, it also includes matching straws and shot glass! They are strong, sturdy and beautiful! Plus it comes with a limited edition brass handle!

NINJA BLENDER: Whenever you are going to whip up frozen cocktails, you are going to want a reliable blender. The Ninja is it for me! You cannot go wrong with this one!
