SWEET AND SPOOKY HALLOWEEN SANGRIA
By the amount of sangria recipes on this site, it’s probably not a surprise when I say that sangria is my favorite batch cocktail to make for a party. Here’s why:
- It’s easy to toss together and is even better when prepped the night before.
- There are so many different flavors, liquors and even wines that can be used to make something fun and unique every time.
- I love drinking it!
Let’s be honest – the last one is probably the biggest reason I keep coming back to sangria recipes.
This past year, I’ve shared my ultimate summer sangria as well as my go-to White Christmas Sangria and Red Christmas Sangria, so I thought it was time to also share my Halloween Sangria!
This sangria is created with color definitely in mind! I wanted something with deep pinks, purples and reds for a dark shade that would fit the spooky mood of Halloween.
Plus I love the diverse range of colors that you find with the berries featured in this drink.
Want something even darker? Use a darker red wine instead of a rose.
HOW TO MAKE THIS HALLOWEEN SANGRIA?
Sangria is a really easy cocktail because it is mainly a pour and dump batch cocktail. The exception being only if you need to cut up fruit, like I did for this recipe.
You will add the wine, the vodka, and the juice to the pitcher. Lastly, you will add the fruit and stir.
WHEN CAN YOU MAKE THIS HALLOWEEN SANGRIA?
Most sangria can be prepped the night before or morning of, and this sangria is no exception.
If making the night before, I suggest adding the fruit in the morning as berries can get a little more mushy than some other fruits.
ITEMS HELPFUL FOR THIS RECIPE
LARGE PITCHER – You want to make sure you have a roomy pitcher like this one at 80 ounces because the fruit will add a lot volume to your cocktail.
PUNCH BOWL – Looking to make a larger batch of this Halloween sangria? Use a punch bowl! It will be so much easier for serving at a party and you can make it all at one time instead of refilling during the party.
COCKTAIL STIRRER – I have one of these as part of my normal cocktail set that I love and will post below for you. Keeping this on hand makes it super easy to stir without making a mess.
3 PIECE BAR SET: If you are going to make simple cocktails, this is my favorite bar set. It has a jigger, a muddler, and a trident cocktail stirrer. This last one means it has a mini “spoon” shape on one end like a traditional stirrer and a forked shape on the other.
CLIP ON SPIDERS – My cups were pretty thin lipped, so these little spiders would hang right onto the edge of the glass. They aren’t super secure, but they rest there and make for a fun initial reaction!

Notes
WHAT FRUIT WOULD BE GOOD ADDITIONS TO THIS SANGRIA?
You can include almost anything in this sangria but here are my favorite choices based on color: blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, black plums, or black grapes.
WHAT IF I WANT A DARKER COLOR FOR THIS SANGRIA?
If you want an even deeper shade, considering using a darker red wine as your base. Red wine will still pair well with the juice and give you a richer color.
