Don’t save the bubbly for special occasions! This Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade Spritzer with Riondo Prosecco is the perfect summer cocktail for when your friends come over for a relaxing day in the sun or fun night under the stars!
TIME FOR THE PERFECT SUMMER COCKTAIL WITH THIS SPARKLING STRAWBERRY LEMONADE SPRITZER!
During the holidays, I teamed up with Riondo Prosecco to make a White Christmas Sangria filled with red and green fruit for a cheerful holiday cocktail! We served it to our friends for a holiday celebration, and it was a big hit!
So when I had the opportunity to work with them again, I jumped at the chance to make a new sparkling cocktail for summer.
This Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade Spritzer is in the running for my favorite summer drink!
It is light, chilled and bubbly with the sweetness from the strawberries and summery citrus lemonade. A winning combination in my book!
WHAT IS A SPRITZER?
Just in case you might not be familiar with a spritzer, it is a light, refreshing drink that has 3 easy base ingredients.
Wine – For this recipe, I’ve decided to use sparkling wine to add some fun bubbles to the summer drink, but you can use any kind of a wine in a spritzer.
Soda – Normally, club soda or sparkling water is used, but soda is often meant more liberally in cocktails. Tonics and lemonades are a great “soda” that brings a bit more sweetness to a drink recipe.
ICE! – Spritzers are intended to be refreshing and cool, which makes it perfect as a summer cocktail. You definitely don’t want to skimp on the ice!
HOW TO MAKE THIS STRAWBERRY LEMONADE SPRITZER?
Lemonade with an easy homemade strawberry simple syrup is the base for this spritzer inspired recipe. Making homemade simple syrup isn’t complicated and definitely worth the effort!
Add plenty of chopped strawberries and lemons for extra flavor and general prettiness; I mean, who doesn’t enjoy eating the fresh fruit in a fun summer cocktail?
Then, I topped off the drink recipe with a bottle of Riondo Prosecco!
For prosecco cocktail recipes, I always suggest adding the sparkling ingredient last and as close to enjoyment as possible. You don’t want the bubbles to go flat!
For this sparkling lemonade spritzer, you can either add the sparkling right before guests arrive to the pitcher or allow them to pour it straight into their glasses as a finisher. The latter is a perfect way to offer a tasty strawberry lemonade without alcohol for guests as well.
WHAT IS SIMPLE SYRUP AND HOW TO MAKE IT?
Traditional simple syrup is made from cooking down one part water to one part sugar for a one to one ratio. White granulated sugar is the standard sweetener.
Once you’ve mastered a classic simple syrup, it’s easy to experiment with other sugars and even other flavors.
HOW TO MAKE A HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY SIMPLE SYRUP?
Place water, sugar and strawberries into a pot and bring to a boil. Once boiling, turn to a simmer for 20 minutes.
Then, use metal strainer to catch strawberries as you transfer simple syrup into container to cool. Place in fridge to speed up cooling process.
NOTE: Do not squeeze any additional juices from the strawberries via the strainer. This can cause your syrup to become cloudy.
